Answers to the most common questions about donating your tractor or farm equipment to support U.S. veterans.
Getting Started
We accept farm tractors, compact utility tractors, riding mowers, zero-turn mowers, combines, harvesters, skid steers, loaders, and most agricultural equipment. All makes, all eras, running or not. If it has a title or bill of sale and an accessible location, we can almost always accept it.
Use the online form at TractorDonations.org or call us toll-free at 1-888-324-2772. Provide the make, model, year, and location. Most donations are confirmed on the first call.
No. Pickup and transport are completely free. There are no fees charged to donors at any point in the process.
Condition & Eligibility
Yes. Non-running tractors and equipment with major mechanical issues are accepted. The key factors are an accessible location and documentation of ownership. Describe the condition in the form and we'll confirm acceptance.
Absolutely. Long-term storage and field-parked equipment are accepted regularly. As long as the equipment is accessible to a flatbed or lowboy truck and you have documentation of ownership, we can almost always arrange pickup.
Unlike road vehicles, many farm tractors don't have traditional titles — especially older equipment. A bill of sale, registration, or other proof of ownership is usually sufficient. Contact us and we'll walk through the documentation needed for your specific equipment.
Pickup & Transport
Large farm tractors require flatbed or lowboy transport — we coordinate the appropriate hauling equipment for your machine's size and weight. Pickup is available from farms, fields, barns, and storage lots anywhere in the U.S. at no cost.
Scheduling typically takes 5–14 business days. Rural locations or oversized equipment may take longer to coordinate. We'll confirm a pickup window directly with you.
Not necessarily. Many farmers arrange for a neighbor or farmhand to be present. You'll need to provide documentation of ownership at the time of pickup. We'll coordinate all logistics in advance.
Tax Deduction
Your deduction is based on the gross proceeds from the sale of your equipment at auction. For equipment selling above $500 — which covers virtually all tractors — you receive IRS Form 1098-C documenting the exact sale amount.
Your IRS-compliant tax receipt arrives within 45 days of your equipment's sale at auction. It includes the sale price, date, and all required 501(c)(3) documentation.
About the Program
After standard processing costs, proceeds go to Salute Veterans Inc. — funding veteran employment programs, transition assistance, and VeteransDirectory.org, a free directory of nearly 2,000 veteran resources available at no cost.
Yes. Salute Veterans Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 84-2016237), searchable on the IRS Tax Exempt Organization database. We hold the Candid Gold Seal of Transparency. All donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
