Michigan is the nation's leading tart cherry producer and a major apple, blueberry, and dairy state. The Thumb region — Huron, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties — anchors the state's grain and sugar beet economy. The west coast counties along Lake Michigan run cherries, apples, blueberries, and asparagus through Berrien, Allegan, and Leelanau. Central Michigan supports dairy, dry beans, and corn. The Upper Peninsula adds smaller-scale dairy and the limited-season hay operations of the northern climate.
Tractor donations from Michigan reflect the state's mix. John Deere and Case IH row crop tractors come in from the Thumb's grain country. New Holland equipment is common from Michigan dairy operations and the orchards along Lake Michigan. Kubota and Mahindra compact tractors arrive from cherry, apple, and blueberry farms. Vintage Farmall, Oliver, and Massey Harris tractors from Michigan's farming heritage accepted on the same terms as modern equipment.
From large row crop tractors to compact utility units, combines to skid steers, every type of agricultural equipment donated from Michigan is accepted — running or not, with attachments or bare, stored in a field or in a barn.
TractorDonations.org coordinates pickup across Michigan. Lower Peninsula coverage includes Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, Kalamazoo, and Saginaw.
